BREAKFAST SAUSAGE AND EGG CHEESY BREAD
This BREAKFAST CHEESY BREAD with maple bacon sausage and gouda is the best breakfast you will ever have! It comes together super quick and definitely a crowd pleaser. Whether you make it on summer weekends or for brunch during the holidays, it will always be a hit. I promise!
What will you need?
- Maple bacon sausage easy to find in stores
- French bread: we recommend the soft type instead of the baguette since it will crisp up while being grilled and becomes uncomfortable to eat.
- Cheese of choice: we did gouda and brick cheese from Buholzer Brothers since it melts good
- Eggs: easy scrambled eggs, very creamy and slightly undercooked since it will be grilled once placed in the bread.
- Milk: needed for the eggs
- Other: Seasoning, Chives to serve,
- Butter and extra virgin olive oil for the eggs.
Where to cook it?
We have made it on the griddle indoor and on the grill as well. Both work perfectly.
Also, you may need to cook in the oven until 165°F internal.
Highly recommend getting a thermometer, if you don’t have one already.
How to cook it?
It’s pretty simple actually. You would need to cut and carve the bread taking out as much crumb as possible. Make your scrambled eggs and then start assembling. First cheese, then scrambled eggs and lastly the meat. Grill and then in the oven until the meat has reached 165°F internally.

- Carve the bread, layer cheeses, then layer eggs and finally top with the sausage making sure to cover the whole surface (the meat tends to shrink when cooked).
- Heat griddle on medium heat, spray some cooking spray and place the bread with the meat side down. Press the top with the spatula. Flip and do the same on the other side. Cook for about 2 minutes on each side.
- If sausage isn't fully cooked, put in the oven at 350°F until the meat reaches 165°F.
- Serve with some chopped chives if desired.
Notes
~you can use whatever cheese you prefer: gouda, sharp cheddar, mozzarella. We used that brand since it was indicated for grilled cheese and wanted to try it out.
